At 3:07 a.m., a very lost cat arrived in a city that never slept. He had one bent whisker, a map facing the wrong way, and absolutely no idea he was about to find his people.
THE ROOFTOP CHRONICLES / AN ORIGINAL CATDIH TALE
03:07 A.M. / THE WRONG SIDE OF TOWNCATDIH followed a smell of grilled fish through three alleyways, one open window, and a train he definitely wasn't supposed to board.
By the time he arrived, the fish was gone. So was the train. He stood outside a closed shop, holding his map upside down. His eyes were enormous. His options were not.
“I meant to do that.”— CATDIH, absolutely not meaning to do that
Then someone laughed. Not at him. With him.
ONE MISSED TRAIN. ONE FOUND FRIEND.CATE was the kind of cat who always landed on her feet. CATDIH was the kind who checked whether he still had feet.
She turned his map the right way up. He turned it back. She decided he needed a friend more than he needed directions.
“Come on, big eyes.

She took his paw. For once, he followed the right thing.
THE ROOFTOP / EVERYONE GETS A BOWLAt the top of six flights of stairs lived Doge. He had seen a thousand sunrises, heard a thousand big plans, and still believed the best things started with a small kindness.
CATE introduced her new best friend. CATDIH introduced himself to a houseplant. Doge put down a third bowl anyway.

That night, CATDIH slept with both eyes open. Old habits.
When the sun came up, CATE folded his useless map into a paper boat. Doge made breakfast. CATDIH made a promise.
